Sewage Treatment Plant

Oronoco Town Counsel has been tasked with planning a  Sewage Treatment Plant  for Oronoco.
Lets get involved so we understand the impact on our air quality and property values.

As many of you are aware, the City of Oronoco is currently seeking bonding bill funding for the Oronoco Wastewater Project in the up coming 2020 Minnesota Legislative session for $20.4 million dollars.

Please participate to show your support for this project.

This takes about 2 minutes.

From reading the minutes it looks like they have three options:
1) Connect to Rochester
2) Join forces with Pine Island as they build a new treatment plant.
3) Build one in Oronoco.

If they build one in Oronoco the 1st phase will be 4 acres  but as more sections of the town are allowed to hook into the system the plant will need to grow.

If built in Oronoco the favorite spot is near the old dump. This is a good distance from anyone home and as the dump was a former Super Fund Sight it is unlikely this area will ever be used for residential.

Unfortunately Lester Reese property is for sale and is a possible sight.
This property is among the most beautiful in Oronoco. My fear is that if the Sewage Treatment Plant is located here, the property that would have hosted high end homes will now be doomed to low rent apartment buildings and industrial parks.  Ask anyone who went to school at John Adams and they will tell you; If the wind was blowing in the right direction they could smell the Rochester Sewage Treatment Plant.

Check Out the meeting minutes.
If you do not have MS Office you can read them using the free Google Docks  app.
